Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the ScreenWell Android application (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not download or use the App.

These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and Ganesh (the "Developer"), the independent developer of ScreenWell. By using the App, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

2. Description of Service

ScreenWell is an Android parental control and screen-time management application. The App provides the following features:

  • Kid Mode: Timed sessions for children across selected apps, with deception overlays (broken screen, low battery, sleep screen, or greyscale) that activate when time expires and can only be dismissed by a parent via PIN, biometric authentication, or auto-dismiss after a configured duration.
  • Daily Limits: Per-app time budgets with three enforcement levels — soft notification, delay gate (mindfulness pause), or hard block overlay.
  • Focus Sessions: On-demand blocking of selected apps during work or study periods.
  • Schedule Blocks: Recurring time-window-based app blocking (e.g., no social media on school nights).
  • Reels & Shorts Block: Automatic redirection of YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels to each app's Home feed.
  • Coins & Streaks: An optional gamified reward system for maintaining healthy screen-time habits (requires account creation).

Core features (Kid Mode, Daily Limits, Focus Sessions, Schedule Blocks, Reels Block) are available without creating an account. The Coins & Streaks feature requires account registration.

3. Use Restrictions

You agree that you will not:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the App
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation
  • Attempt to circumvent, disable, or tamper with the App's parental control features on behalf of a minor subject to those controls
  • Misuse the Android Accessibility Service permission granted to the App for any purpose other than screen-time management as described in the App's documentation and Privacy Policy
  • Distribute, resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the App or any portion of it without express written permission from the Developer
  • Use the App in any way that could damage, overburden, disable, or impair the Developer's infrastructure or third-party services used by the App
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any accounts, systems, or data associated with the App
  • Provide false information when creating an account or communicating with support

The App is intended to be used by adults (parents or individuals managing their own screen time). You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account. Children who are subject to Kid Mode enforcement do not use the App directly — control remains with the adult who configured it.

4. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

The Developer does not warrant that:

  • The App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of bugs or security vulnerabilities
  • The overlay or blocking features are impossible to circumvent — a determined user may force-restart the device, boot into Android safe mode, uninstall the App, or use other methods to bypass enforcement
  • The App will be compatible with all Android devices, manufacturers' custom Android skins, or future versions of the Android operating system
  • The Reels & Shorts Block will remain functional if YouTube or Instagram change the internal structure of their applications

You acknowledge that no parental control solution is foolproof, and that the effectiveness of Kid Mode depends on the child not having administrator-level access to the device and not knowing how to force-restart or factory-reset it. We recommend enabling the auto-dismiss timer as a safety fallback.

5. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Loss of data or configuration settings
  • Loss of profits or business opportunities
  • Emotional distress
  • Any harm resulting from a child bypassing the App's parental controls
  • Device incompatibility or malfunction caused by the App

THE DEVELOPER'S TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP OR IN-APP PURCHASES IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR INR 500 (WHICHEVER IS GREATER).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

6. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts located in India.

7. Changes to Terms

The Developer reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. When changes are made, the effective date at the top of this page will be updated. For material changes, we will notify users through an in-app notice or, if you have an account, by email.

Your continued use of the App after the updated Terms have been posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the App.
